Ramadan: Imam Adewunmi Cautions Against Returning To Abandoned Vices, Calls For Continued Piety (+photos)

ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Chief Imam of Ilaro Central Mosque, Imam (Sheik) Alhaji Tajudeen Mustapha-Adewunmi, has reminded Muslims that the conclusion of Ramadan should not be seen as an opportunity to revert to prohibited actions they had forsaken during the fasting period.

Delivering his sermon during the Eid-el-Fitr prayer held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the Ilaro Central Mosque prayer ground, Oke-Ela, Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State, Imam Adewunmi emphasized that true Muslims should maintain their piety before, during, and after Ramadan to ensure their prayers are fully accepted by God.

The Islamic scholar urged the congregation not to despair despite the prevailing economic and security challenges in the country. He assured them that, with patience and faith, positive change would eventually come.

Imam Adewunmi led prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his team, Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi and his colleagues representing Ilaro/Yewa at the State and National Assembly. He also prayed for the people of Ilaro, Yewa, Ogun State, and Nigeria as a whole.

The cleric expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun and other notable sons and daughters of the area for their continued generosity towards the Ilaro-Yewa Muslim community. He prayed for their success and for God to grant them the desires of their hearts.

Imam Adewunmi called on the congregation to support the growth of Islamic education in Ilaro-Yewa. He emphasized that those who contribute to the cause of Allah will be abundantly blessed.

Following the prayers, the worshippers, dressed in their finest attire, proceeded to the Ultra-modern Asade Agunloye Hall, Empire Field, Ilaro-Yewa where they paid their yearly homage to His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland.
