ABEOKUTA – No fewer than 4,000 Public Primary School Head and Assistant Head Teachers in Ogun State have been trained on efficient and safe school re-opening after Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.
Speaking while flagging-off a 5-Day Pre-Resumption Education Leadership Summit, organised via Zoom by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) tagged; “Goodbye Yesterday”, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, reiterated his administration’s commitment towards ensuring an improved Educational sector in the State.
Prince Abiodun said government would continue to formulate policies and programmes geared towards revamping the falling standard of education in the State, appealing to primary school administrators to join hands in developing the sector.
“We are committed towards ensuring that the people of Ogun State enjoy good and functional Education and to improve the standard of education in our dear State. I appeal to our Head Teachers to please contribute their quota for the development of education and to tackle challenges facing education sector in the State.
“This administration is doing everything humanly possible to promote standards, we have provided several infrastructure and health facilities. This training is another representation of our commitment towards achieving a safer and healthier school re-opening after Covid-19 pandemic lockdown”, he submitted.
Giving an overview of the training, the Special Adviser to Governor Abiodun on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, described the facilitators as inspiring and renowned experts in school administration, whose technical know-how could help at improving Teachers’ skills and reestablishing the curriculum, enjoining participants to make each opportunity count.
Earlier in his welcome address, the SUBEB Board Secretary, Mr. Wasiu Kuye, said the programme was a unique one for head teachers, particularly at this period, appreciating the Governor for approving the training, which according to him would broaden the knowledge and skills of participants for effective school re opening.
