By Raymond Osho

The Ogun State House of Assembly has given all the suspended Local government councilors in the State one week ultimatum  to provide records of financial operations in their various council areas.

The Assembly spoke on Friday June 7, 2019 through their Deputy Speaker, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo during a meeting with the councilors at the Judicial Complex, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, the State capital.

The Assembly had during a plenary last week suspended all the 236 councillors in the state over an alleged financial misappropriation.

The Councillors, in reactionon on Thursday, June 6, 2019 stormed the premises of the State Assembly to protest  their suspension.

But Oluomo in his address insisted that they (the councilors) must make available the budget allocated to their councils in the last three years.

He said “I Will advise you to make available budget allocated to your council in the last three years, then you provide all records of financial operations in your council within a week”

The Deputy Speaker clearly stated  that the State government was not on a revenge mission with the suspension order, warning against misconception of the action taken by the government.

He continued “We are only reacting to petitions we received on financial recklessness of the local government and LCDA.”

“You are given a week for the submission of a  comprehensive details of records to the house, so that the  incoming assembly will make its final resolution on the issues raised”

The chairman, Ado-odo LCDA, Hon. Saheed Alagbe however called for equity and justice in settling the issues.
