Renowned seer and leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, hosted the second edition of his palliative market in Lagos on February 14, 2024, as part of his Annual 21-day Thanksgiving programme, which commenced on January 29, 2024.
The palliative market aimed to alleviate economic hardships, offering reduced prices on various food items to church members, community members, security personnel, journalists, and others.
With staple items like rice, beans, yam, semovita, and garri selling at significantly discounted rates, Primate Ayodele emphasized the importance of making food affordable to combat economic challenges.
A bag of rice was sold for N20,000, a bag of beans was sold for N2,000, Tubers of yam were sold for N1,500, a bag of semovita was sold for N1,500, garri was sold for N3,000, a carton of Indomie sold for N1,500, wheat was sold for N2,000 and many more.
He criticized the current method of government providing palliatives, suggesting that direct community involvement, rather than political control, would ensure effective distribution.
Drawing attention to the prevailing economic difficulties, Primate Ayodele urged President Tinubu to address the nation’s hardships by establishing subsidized markets nationwide and implementing transparent committees to oversee the process.
Expressing disappointment in the government’s handling of economic forecasts, Primate Ayodele announced plans to establish a bakery and healthcare center to support citizens if the situation worsens.
In a gesture of gratitude, five luxury cars were presented to church members and journalist Wale Lawal for their dedication.
Primate Ayodele also donated two million naira to support emerging churches and provided scholarships, JAMB exam forms, and essential appliances to empower youths and widows within his congregation, demonstrating his commitment to philanthropy.
