Presidential Aide Aliyu Audu Resigns Abruptly, Expressed Gratitude To Tinubu

FCT, ABUJA, NIGERIA – Aliyu Audu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Public Affairs, has tendered his resignation, marking a sudden end to his tenure in the presidency.

In a resignation letter dated June 8, 2025, and addressed to President Tinubu through the Chief of Staff, Audu confirmed that his resignation takes effect immediately.

While the letter did not specify any reasons for his decision, Audu used the opportunity to express profound appreciation to President Tinubu for the chance to serve in his administration.

Audu reflected positively on his experience, describing his time in office as both an honour and a privilege.

“I remain deeply grateful to you, Mr. President, for the opportunity to serve my fatherland under your visionary leadership. It has been an honour to contribute to the public communication efforts of this administration”, he wrote.

He also extended his gratitude to Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, the former Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, for nominating him to the position, noting that although they were not previously close, but Ngelale played a key role in his appointment.

It would be recalled that Audu was nominated for the role on August 26, 2023. His appointment was later confirmed by President Tinubu on October 9, 2023, solidifying his entry into the administration.

In his farewell remarks, Audu conveyed his best wishes to the Tinubu administration, expressing hope for its success and the progress of the nation, adding he would continue to pray for both.
