LAGOS – A major history in the socio-political development of Yewaland was made on Sunday, Novemver 7, 2021as the Olu of Ilaro & Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, MFR led other Yewa Obas to installed Ambassador (Mrs) Ebun Oyagbola as the first Iyalode of Yewaland.
According to a release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l & online – www.startrendinternational.com by Prince Femi Dokunmu, Media Consultant to the Olu of Ilaro & Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, the colourful event held at the palatial residence of the 90 year old first Woman Cabinet Minister in Isolo, Lagos saw the Paramount Ruler and other Obas decorating Chief Oyagbola with a certificate and other insignia of office.
In his speech at the occasion, Oba Olugbenle said he and members of the Yewa Traditional Council were committed, more than ever before, to providing Yewaland the needed leadership and direction that would enhance the spirit of unity and communal development among Yewa people where ever they may be.
In her response, Iyalode Oyagbola expressed her gratitude to Oba Olugbenle and all Yewa Obas for the honour done to her and promised to continue to work and pray for the unity and progress of Yewaland.
Other Obas present at the occasion include the Alademeso of Igan-Alade, Oba Gabriel Olalowo; the Onigbeji of Igbeji-Yewa, Oba Sunday Adelakun; Elerinja of Erinja- Yewa, Oba Ebenezer Egunjobi; Adokun of Igan-Okoto, Oba Mukaila Salako; Ololo of Ijofin-Yewa, Oba Maruf Awode; Olodan of Abuja-Sule, Oba Nasir Olayemi and Opo of Idosemo-Yewa, Oba James Idowu.
Also in attendance were a former Commissioner for Information in Ogun State, Mr Kunle Elegbede and Iyalode Oyagbola’s family members, among other well-wishers.
The newly installed Iyalode was Nigeria’s Minister of National Planning (1979-1983) under the administration of the late and former President Shehu Shagari and later Nigeria’s Ambassador to United State of Mexico (including Panama, Costa Rica and Guatemala).
