Paul Biya’s Daughter Opposes Father’s Re-Election Bid, Rejects Family Identity, Support

… Apologises To Cameroonians, Calls For Change

YAOUNDE, CAMEROON – Brenda Biya, daughter of Cameroon’s long-serving president Paul Biya, has openly urged citizens not to vote for him in the October 2025 presidential election.

Speaking during a live TikTok session and in a video posted on her social media platforms, Brenda said decades of her father’s rule have left Cameroon in poverty, unemployment, and stagnation.

Paul Biya, who has been in power since 1982, is the world’s oldest serving head of state at 92 years old.

Despite criticisms of corruption, authoritarianism, human rights abuses, and disputed elections, he is seeking an eighth term in office.

Brenda, popularly known as “King Nasty,” declared she no longer considers herself part of the presidential family and would reject financial support from her parents.

She further alleged that her uncle, head of the Civil Cabinet, wished her death by overdose, saying family tensions have deepened over time.

In her message, Brenda apologized to Cameroonians for what she described as the suffering inflicted by her father’s rule. She confirmed she would not vote for him and urged citizens to reject the regime, stressing that the country deserves new leadership.

“Do not vote for Paul Biya, not because of me, but because he has made too many people suffer. I hope we will have another president. I no longer consider myself part of the presidential family and I will refuse any financial support from my parents”, she declared.

Meanwhile, Paul Biya formally declared his candidacy for the October 12, 2025 poll via a statement on his official X account in French and English.

He said his decision was in response to calls from Cameroonians at home and abroad and assured them of his readiness to face the nation’s challenges.
