FCT, ABUJA, NIGERIA – Wilson Akubo, a Nigerian pastor, has shared an emotional testimony after recovering all the funds stolen from his two bank accounts in a hacking incident.
According to Pastor Akubo, unknown fraudsters recently gained access to his accounts in two separate banks and completely wiped out his savings, leaving him broke.
The incident came as a shock to him, especially because of his deep love for Nigeria and his constant prayers for the nation’s prosperity. “I was surprised such a thing could happen to me here in Nigeria,” he recounted.
“I love Nigeria; I pray for Nigeria, I bless this country, so I didn’t expect such an experience.”
Determined to seek justice, Pastor Akubo promptly reported the matter to the banks involved, the Customer Protection Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Consumer Protection Council, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
While pursuing the case, he continued to pray for Nigeria, insisting that the nation remains a good land despite the actions of a few who try to portray it otherwise.
His perseverance paid off when, a few days later, the EFCC contacted him with good news. The agency had successfully recovered 100% of the funds stolen from his accounts.
Pastor Akubo expressed his gratitude to the EFCC, particularly the Abuja Zonal Command under Commander Michael Wetkas, for their diligence.
He revealed that the culprits were arrested, and that other victims who lost money during the same period also had their funds restored – without any request for bribes or illicit demands from the officers.
“I believe Nigeria is working. The EFCC is working, the police are working, the military is working, and the judiciary is working. Yes, we have a few bad eggs, but that doesn’t mean nothing is working in our country”, he declared.
Pastor Akubo however used the opportunity to call on Nigerians to keep praying for the nation and to appreciate the efforts of honest public officers who serve with integrity.
