Oyo State Governor Makinde Forwards Works Commissioner Nominee To Oyo Assembly

IBADAN – The Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has forwarded the name of Alhaji Lawal Ismail Ayansiju as Commissioner Nominee for the State Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport to the Oyo State House of Assembly.

Recall the appointment of the former Commissioner in the Ministry, Prof Raphael Afonja was terminated by the State Government on August 10, 2020.

Governor Makinde forwarded the name of the new Commissioner to the State Legislature on Monday, November 30, 2020 in a letter sent to the Oyo State House of Assembly.

In the letter, Makinde said the appointment was to fill the vacuum created in the Ministry since the termination of appointment of Prof. Raphael Afonja.

The letter reads in part, “I wish to inform the Honorable House that another personality considered suitable to serve as Honourable Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, had been decided in person of Alhaji Lawal Ismail Ayansiju. On this basis, the Rt. Hon. Speaker and other Honourable members are therefore requested to kindly screen and consider his appointment as Honourable Commissioner.”

Reading the letter at the floor of the House, the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin said the screening of the Commissioner designate would be done before the House goes on recess.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin thereafter directed the Commissioner nominee to appear before the legislature on December, 14, 2020 for screening.
