IBADAN, OYO STATE, NIGERIA – Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke are set to lead dignitaries in celebrating Nigerian football legend Dr. Felix Owolabi Akinloye, popularly known as “Owo Blow,” as he marks his 70th birthday.
The grand celebration will honour Dr. Owolabi’s immense contributions to Nigerian football, featuring a star-studded novelty match at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Ibadan, on Friday, November 22, 2024.
The event will revive cherished memories of Nigeria’s football golden era, with iconic players like Chief Segun Odegbami, Victor Ikpeba, Mutiu Adepoju, Kadiri Ikhana, and Augustine Eguavoen participating in a thrilling game.
The match, scheduled for 3pm, will see the Ex-Internationals take on Ibadan All Stars.
At 4 pm, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Dr. Owolabi’s former team, will face Osun United, representing his state of birth. Both matches will showcase the exceptional talent of Nigeria’s football legends.
The involvement of Governors Makinde and Adeleke underscores Dr. Owolabi’s significant impact on Nigerian football and his enduring legacy.
Beyond the football matches, the celebration will continue with a thanksgiving ceremony on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Bolads Events Centre, Ibadan. Friends, family, and colleagues will gather to pay tribute to the living legend for his remarkable life and contributions to Nigerian sports.
