The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle has commended the management of MTN Nigeria Ltd for their continued support to the success of the annual Oronna Ilaro Festival.
Oba Olugbenle who is also the Chairman of Ogun State Traditional Council stated this when the management of MTN paid him a courtesy visit on the occasion of 2017 Oronna Ilaro Festival at his palace in Ilaro, headquarters of Ogun West.
The monarch however asked MTN to improve on their sponsorship of the yearly event.
Responding, the Head of MTN Nigeria Ltd., ‘‘Otunba’’ Adekunle Adebiyi who led the team to the Royal father said that the festival was very important to the telecommunication giant, saying; ‘‘MTN will continue to give support and promote the annual cultural event.’’
Later in the day, the Chairman Planning Committee Of,2017 Oronna Ilaro Festival, Alhaji Rafiu Akinola has disclosed that theme of this year celebration is ‘‘Festival of Harmony’’
He said this during a Press Conference organised by the committee to kick start this year cultural event at Yewa Frontier Hotel, Ibese-Ilaro Road, Ilaro.
Alhaji Akinola who pointed out that this year cultural event would further strengthen and improve unity among the people of Ilaro said that, the a weeklong festival would feature three popular Nigeria musicians – Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru fondly called Reminisce, Anidugbe Oluwatobiloba Daniel known as Kiss Daniel and Michael Owusu Addo with stage named Small Doctor.
He further said that the event programme would feature free medical checkup, traditional Efe dance, colourful Gelede/Egungun Okulu Dance Parade and Onigba Aje ceremony.
Other programmes of the event according to the Chairman includes, talent hunt, visit to less privileged home, Sisi Ilaro Beauty Pageant, and paying homage to the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle among other programmes of the event to mention a few.
The Press Conference was also attended by Oba Olugbenle with some of his chiefs, the Vice Chairman of the committee, Chief Thomas Lala, Mr. Aderonmu (Secretary), Chief (Mrs.) Yemisi Oloyo) –Treasurer and other members of the committee.
