Ondo State Governor Akeredolu Clarifies Continued Medical Leave in Germany, Says, “I’m Recuperating”

AKURE – Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has clarified that he remains on medical leave in Germany, countering a circulating video suggesting his return from his medical vacation. 

The statement was released on Sunday, August 13, 2023, by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Richard Olatunde.

The video in question depicts Governor Akeredolu disembarking from a helicopter alongside his Special Adviser on Union Matters and Special Duties, Mr. Dare Aragbaiye.

However, the statement clarifies that the video was recorded during Akeredolu’s campaign tour for the past Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The statement emphasizes that the Governor is still in Germany, focusing on his recovery.

“The citizens of Ondo State and well-wishers are appreciated for their support and prayers during this time.

“The Governor’s commitment to advancing positive development for Ondo State remains unwavering”, the statement reads.

Governor Akeredolu’s initial 21-day medical leave began on June 7, and he was expected to return on July 6.

He subsequently extended his medical leave abroad based on medical advice for further rest after recovery.

His deputy, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been acting as governor during his absence.

The Governor looks forward to reuniting with the people of Ondo State and continuing his administration’s agenda upon his return.
