ABEOKUTA: Justice Josephine Coker of the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta Ogun State on Friday September 20, 2019 dismissed the petition, challenging the victory of the Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo as the winner of Ifo 1 State Constituency in Ogun State House of Assembly.
The Allied Peoples Movement’s (APM), Candidate Hon. Wemimo Owolabi had filed a petition, challenging the emergence of Oluomo of All Progressives Congressional (APC) in the last election.
The three allegations leveled against Oluomo were over-voting, illegal use of PVC and non-accreditation of voters.
But the court maintained that the motion filed lacked confirmed evidence.
In her final judgement, Wemimo declared Oluomo as the authentic winner of the House of Assembly election held March 9 2019.
Oluomo’s councel, Barrister Temitayo Amoo noted that he already knew that the tribunal will ruled out the petition levelled against Oluomo, saying, “the victory of Oluomo today showed that the house of Assembly election was free and fair.”
His words, “The case is straight forward, the facts is straight too, even from the beginning we are sure that the tribunal will rule in our favour, but thanks be to God today we are glad to witness the Victory. This is a deserved victory for democracy and for the good people of Ifo, Ogun State.”
Hon. Oluomo after the judgement thanked God for his victory, saying that he dedicated it to God Almighty.
Oluomo said, ”I want to thank God and the people of Ogun State for my victory at the tribunal. It is now that we can now concentrate on something else as the case has been thrown away today.
”I want to appeal to all APM faithful to come back home and rejoin APC, because they were members of APC before they crossed to APM”
