ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Government says it has completed training exercise programme for the teeming youths in the three Senatorial District of the State on the installation of meters, in order to reduce the rate of unemployed youths and engage them to become useful in the society.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Job Creation and Youth Empowerment, Prince Lekan Olude while addressing the youths who came on a “Thank You” visit to the government after the training exercise, explained that the State government has plans for unemployed youths in the state.
Olude noted that part of the plans was the job portal where unemployed youths in the State could channel their application for gainful employment from the State government and private sectors.
He added that the training was a Public Private Partnership (PPP), through which meter installers were picked and trained, noting that other private sector would soon key into the job portal for recruitment process into their various companies.
He explained that the State government has allocated the sum of N6Billion for youth development in the 2021 budget, admonishing the beneficiaries to spread the good news to their friends and family, so that they could also tap and benefit from the job portal.
Also Speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy, Engr. Lolu Adubifa said that the training exercise was necessary in order to bridge the huge metering gap in the Nigerian Power Sector by providing liquidity to the Meter Asset Provider (MAP).
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Bolumole Olayinka appreciated the State government for the opportunity given to them, especially picking them through the job portal, saying that it was good gesture in curbing unemployment in the State.
“Indeed, the training exercise was a very good gesture in curbing unemployment among the teeming youths across the State, and it is also good in content and organization in every aspect which in turn make us certified installers in the county at large,” Olayinka said
