Bosun Tijani, Ogun State Ministerial Nominee Apologises For Anti-Nigeria Tweets, Says, “My Father Won’t Be Proud Of Me For These Allegations”

ABUJA: Saturday, August 5, 2023 – Dr. Bosun Tijani, an IT expert and one of the three ministerial nominees from Ogun State, has issued an apology for his past anti-Nigeria and anti-Senate tweets during the ongoing screening exercise on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

Tijani expressed regret for his actions, acknowledging that his father would not be proud of him for making such allegations in his tweets.

He emphasised that he was brought up in both Abeokuta and Agege with values that emphasise respect for elders, and he deeply regrets any disrespectful remarks he made in the tweets, including referring to the Senate as ‘morons.’

During the screening, Senator Fatai Buhari of Oyo North raised concerns about Tijani’s previous tweets and questioned whether he still held the views expressed in those tweets.

Another tweet presented by Minority Leader Senator Simon Davou alleged that the nominee referred to Nigerian Senators as ‘morons.’

Senator Olamilekan Adeola however pleaded with the Senate to consider the allegations against Tijani as a result of youthful exuberance and frustration.

Other Senators however protested Adeola’s plea, demanding accountability for the tweets.

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, intervened and urged Tijani to apologise for the tweets, warning that more derogatory tweets might surface if the nominee did not apologise promptly.

In response to the Senate’s request, Dr. Bosun Tijani apologised for the content of his tweets, expressing remorse for his past statements and committing to more responsible communication in the future.
