Ogun NUJ, NIPR To Honor Pa Akinmade At Idanre Burial Ceremonies

ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – Members of the Ogun State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) are set to converge in Idanre, Ondo State, in February to pay their final respects at the burial of High Chief Moses Ade Akinmade, the Obamoluwa of Idanre Kingdom.

 Also, the Ogun State chapter of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), under the leadership of its Chairperson, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, has announced plans to lead a high-powered delegation to the event.

The burial will celebrate the remarkable life of Chief Akinmade, a pioneer of modern cooperative societies in Idanre, as well as a renowned community leader, cocoa merchant, and socialite.

The late Obamoluwa was the father of Hon. Kayode Akinmade, a prominent media figure and former two-term Commissioner for Information in Ondo State, who currently serves as the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Chief Akinmade passed away on August 5, 2024, at the age of 98. The family has announced a two-day burial ceremony to honour his legacy.

The wake-keep is scheduled for Friday, February 14, 2025, at 30, Odolemo Street, Isalu Quarters, Odode Idanre. On Saturday, February 15, 2025, the funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Idanre, followed by his internment at his residence. Guests will be entertained afterward at Olofin Grammar School, Odode, Idanre.

The events are expected to attract dignitaries and notable personalities from across Nigeria, reflecting the respect and admiration for Chief Akinmade’s enduring contributions to his community and beyond.
