IJEBU-ODE – Ogun State government on Friday, December 11, 2020, sealed 13 illegal gas skids in Ijebu-Ode, for operating without government approval.
The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Olatunji Odunlami disclosed that the skids were sealed during monitoring and enforcement exercise by the state’s Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
Odunlami said the ministry had commenced a total clampdown on illegal gas skids, which does not have government approval to ensure the safety of gas users and to forestall the possible outbreak of fire incidents in the State.
He further said that government would not fold its hands and watch the State been destroyed by carelessness of the operators, who are in the habit of building gas skids close to residential areas without due process.
Speaking after the exercise, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tpl. Tunde Olugbewesa advised those operating gas skids within the State, to visit the Ministry or any of its Zonal Town Planning offices nearest to them to obtain approval.
