ABORO, IFO LOCAL GOVT., OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – In a powerful demonstration of grassroots support, the Aboro community in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State rolled out the drums on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, to receive representatives of the Yayi Initiative Group (YIG) and publicly declare their backing for the 2027 governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
The warm reception saw the Baale of Aboro, local chiefs, political and community leaders, youth groups, market women, and residents gather en masse to show solidarity with Senator Adeola, a prominent figure representing Ogun West in the 10th National Assembly and a leading contender in the upcoming gubernatorial race.
The Yayi Initiative Group, a grassroots political movement led by Alhaja (Chief) Memunat Haruna, an Ilaro-born leader and wife of business mogul Alhaji (Chief) Waidi Haruna (WADOYE), has been on a strategic statewide engagement tour. The group’s goal: building alliances across monarchies, political circles, youth groups, and markets to drum up support for Senator Adeola’s candidacy.
At the palace of Baale Apostle James Olushola Akindele, the community expressed both enthusiasm for Senator Adeola’s ambition and concern over long-standing infrastructural challenges, including poor road networks, inadequate drainage systems, and a general lack of basic amenities. They appealed to Senator Adeola for swift intervention.
Mr. Temi Amusan, who represented the Senator at the event, thanked the people of Aboro for their hospitality and seized the opportunity to spotlight Senator Adeola’s impressive achievements in just two years.
“We came to Aboro to share the good news of Yayi’s impactful service in Ogun West.
“Over 100 roads constructed, numerous schools and healthcare centres built and renovated, markets upgraded, town halls established, and social interventions like student bursaries and empowerment programs have all left a significant mark”, he said.
He also highlighted Senator Adeola’s ongoing work on the Ilashe–Imeko road, a long-abandoned project now being revived to link four LGAs in Yewaland and boost regional commerce.
“Senator Adeola has not only transformed Ogun West, but he has shown the leadership capacity to do even more for Ogun State as a whole. He is a talk and do leader”, Amusan affirmed.
In her remarks, Alhaja Memunat Haruna rallied women, stakeholders, and youth in the community to support the Yayi Project wholeheartedly, promising that their collective efforts would yield significant dividends if Senator Adeola is elected governor in 2027.
The event culminated in the official commissioning of a new office space for the Yayi Initiative Group in Aboro, generously donated by the Baale to serve as a local coordination hub for the campaign.
With momentum building across communities like Aboro, Senator Adeola’s governorship bid continues to gain traction ahead of the 2027.
