LAGOS, NIGERIA – In the heart of Yewaland, where tradition walks hand-in-hand with progress, a major political statement was made that has reverberated across Ogun State and beyond.
The revered Alhaji (Chief) Waidi Haruna, the esteemed Bobagunwa of Ilaro-Yewa, has declared his endorsement of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, for the 2027 Ogun State gubernatorial race.
The announcement came during a well-attended gathering at the Bobagunwa’s residence at Oke-Aro area of Lagos.
Traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders, youth groups, cross the area were present to witness the momentous occasion.
Chief Haruna, a towering figure in Yewaland socio-economic affairs, spoke with clarity and conviction.
“Senator Solomon Adeola,” he said, “is not just a son of Yewaland, but a proven leader with the capacity, courage, and character to govern Ogun State.
“His track record in Lagos and Abuja speaks volumes, and his commitment to the development of Ogun West is undeniable.
“Today, I stand not only as Bobagunwa, but as a businessman of international repute and a voice for our people, to endorse him without reservation.”
The endorsement carried significant weight, not only because of Chief Haruna’s stature, but also due to the historical under-representation of Ogun West in the governorship seat.
Recall, for decades, sons and daughters of Yewaland have clamored for political equity, with many believing that 2027 presents a defining opportunity.
Senator Adeola, in his response, expressed profound gratitude. “I am deeply humbled by Baba Bobagunwa’s endorsement,” he said. “This is not just a personal honour; it is a call to service.
“My vision for Ogun State is rooted in inclusive governance, infrastructural renewal, education reform, agricultural expansion, and industrial growth.
“Yewaland will not be left behind, and Ogun State will rise together.”
The Senator’s gubernatorial ambition has been gaining momentum, but the Bobagunwa’s endorsement is being seen as a political greenlight that may unify the long-divided blocs in Ogun West.
Analysts suggest that this singular act could trigger a wave of endorsements from other traditional and political figures in the coming months.
Chief Haruna, aka, Wadoye, and Chairman/Chief Executive of Wadoye Express Ltd., a leading logistics firm, known for his deep wisdom and unifying presence, made a passionate appeal to all indigenes of Ogun State. “Let us rally behind competence. Let us support our own. Let us make history in 2027.”
With the Bobagunwa’s blessing, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola has just received a powerful head start and the race for 2027 has begun in earnest.
