OGSG SIGNS MoU ON PUBLIC INTEREST LAW PARTNERSHIP

ABEOKUTA: Determined to bridge the gap between the quality of legal services available to the wealthy and indigent in Ogun State, the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has mandated the setting up of the State’s Public Interest Law Partnership to complement Pro Bono Services provided by the State and private legal practitioners.

The State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Akingbolahan Adeniran made this known in an interview with newsmen in Abeokuta, recently, stating that the Ministry had facilitated the establishment of Public Interest Law Partnership, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Justice Research Institute Ltd Gte (JRI) and all State Districts of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) including Sagamu, Ota, Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode and Ilaro.

Adeniran noted that the public interest Law partnership would promote the provision of pro-bono services to the disadvantaged residents in the State, by linking persons unable to afford legal services with lawyers willing to participate and also provide practical tool-kit for law firms, Non-Governmental Organisations and individuals.

He pointed out that each districts of the State branch of NBA would have the following as Chairmen; Mr. Felix Adetoro, representing Sagamu branch; Mr. Issac Ogbah will serve Ota branch, Abeokuta branch has Mr. Emmanuel Olu-Alade, while Mr. M.B Ganiyu, and Mr. Bayo Omoniyi would be representing Ijebu-ode and Ilaro branches respectively.
