…Urges Indigenes To Facilitate Community Projects
BY ABU-SATAR HAMED
ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba (Dr) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, has encouraged the people of Ilaro and Yewaland to leverage their positions to facilitate infrastructural projects that will positively impact their community.
Oba Olugbenle, who also serves as the Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, gave this advice on Saturday, March 22, 2025, during the foundation laying ceremony of an ultra-modern recreational facility.
The project, facilitated by Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi, who represents Ogun West at the National Assembly, was presented to the Recreation Club, Ilaro
The monarch emphasized that no project is too small or too large to have a positive impact on the community. He stated, “Hence, we should use our positions to facilitate such opportunities for the benefit of our people.”
In his words, Oba Olugbenle said, “I want to use this medium to commend the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for the various masses-oriented projects his administration has done in the state, including Yewaland. Like Oliver Twist, I want to solicit for more projects in Yewaland and Ogun West as a whole.”
Oba Olugbenle also praised Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi for facilitating the laudable project – an ultra-modern sports facility for the Recreation Club, Ilaro, which will benefit both present and future generations.
“I also urge other sons and daughters of Ilaro and Yewaland who are blessed or in positions of authority to always remember their roots with good things that will benefit our people”, the monarch said.
He added, “I’m also not forgetting the unemployed youths in our community that need urgent employment. I’m using this medium to remind those in positions of authority to provide employment opportunities for the youth so that these young ones will grow and become successful in life.”
The royal father appreciated the developmental projects being facilitated by Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi and other sons and daughters of Yewaland, not only in Ilaro-Yewa but throughout Ogun West.
He prayed for God’s continued blessings, guidance, and protection over all representatives from Ogun West and the state at both the National and State Assemblies, including their families.
He congratulated members of the Recreation Club, Ilaro, for the gifts from Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi, a member of the club, and urged them to continue praying for God’s protection over him and his family.
Speaking on behalf of Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi at the ceremony, Prof. Tope Popoola congratulated Oba Olugbenle for the ongoing developments not only in Ilaro but across Ogun West.
He described the project as “just a piece of the iceberg” and assured that many good things were yet to come.
Prof. Popoola noted that Senator Adeola Yayi wished to attend the ceremony but was unable to do so due to his work at the Senate. However, he sent his good wishes to the Kabiyesi and all members of the Recreation Club, Ilaro, assuring them of more social and sporting projects to come.
Earlier in his speech, the Vice President of the Recreation Club, Ilaro (RCI), Otunba Idowu Alatise Onifade, who represented Mr. Kayode Salako, the club’s President currently on holiday in the United Kingdom, congratulated Oba Olugbenle, the Life Patron of the club, for the remarkable projects coming to Ilaro and Ogun West during his reign.
Otunba Onifade, on behalf of the executive and all members of the foremost club in Ogun West, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi for his generosity.
He prayed for God’s continued blessings, guidance, and protection over the Senator and that his desires be fulfilled.
The event, which was beautifully anchored by Prince Femi Dokunmi, attracted many members of the club and concluded with prayers and praise songs led by Oba Olugbenle, accompanied by joyous dance steps.
Attendees later retired to the clubhouse to celebrate the foundation laying of the new ultra-modern sports complex.
During the occasion, members also took the opportunity to felicitate Mr. Adetunji Adeyemi, also known as Atunje, on his birthday anniversary.
They sang the popular “Happy Birthday” song and wished him many happy returns in good health and happiness
