BY ABU-SATAR HAMED

ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, recently hosted representatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta.

The visit served as a platform for meaningful discussions aimed at fostering strategic collaborations. The stakeholders explored areas of mutual interest, including community development, enhanced security measures, and the advancement of quality education within the region.

Oba Olugbenle urged the MAPOLY leadership, under the guidance of Rector Arc. (Dr.) Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso, to prioritize equality and equity in its administration.

His Majesty emphasized the need for inclusiveness and fairness in decision-making processes to create a harmonious environment.

As Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, Oba Olugbenle highlighted the importance of embracing all individuals within the institution, regardless of their background.

He cautioned against bias or exclusion, advocating for a management style that unites rather than divides.

Expressing disappointment, Oba Olugbenle lamented actions that undermined the tenure of the first Rector from Yewaland in MAPOLY’s history.

He noted that the former Rector’s success was only achievable through the support of the State Governor, decrying systemic marginalization and undue harassment against Yewas working in the polytechnic.

“Enough of the blatant marginalization, harassment, witch-hunting, and the destructive ‘pull-him-down’ syndrome against Yewas working in the polytechnic,” he declared.

The monarch reiterated that Ogun State belongs to all citizens, criticizing the “have-it-all” mentality and hypocrisy that fuels agitation for state creation nationwide.

He emphasized that a leader’s origin should never influence the level of support they receive from their host community and staff.

Oba Olugbenle called on the Jolaoso-led administration to prioritize unity, fairness, and collective progress within the institution and its surrounding community.

His Majesty reaffirmed his dedication to promoting initiatives that positively impact the lives of his people and foster sustainable development across sectors.

The royal meetings concluded with Oba Olugbenle’s resolute commitment to unity and progress, reiterating his unwavering support for programmes and collaborations that improve the well-being of the Yewaland community and beyond.
