ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Adeboye Olugbenle MFR, Asade Agunloye IV, the Olu of Ilaro & Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, has called upon members of the Olu Ilaro Honourary Chiefs to continue their efforts towards advancing Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State, and Nigeria.
The monarch made this statement during a courtesy visit from the group on Friday, June 21, 2024, congratulating him on his appointment as Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas.
Oba Olugbenle expressed gratitude for the chiefs’ unwavering support and acknowledged their contributions to the region’s development. He emphasized their crucial role in providing counsel to enhance his reign and benefit Ilaro-Yewa and the wider community
Highlighting the importance of unity among the chiefs, Oba Olugbenle urged them to maintain cohesion and resolve any differences amicably.
The monarch reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with the chiefs to ensure ongoing progress and prosperity for Ilaro-Yewa and beyond.
Oba (Dr.) Olugbenle emphasized his palace’s openness to constructive advice aimed at advancing Ilaro town and its surroundings.
Regarding the absence of Ojude Oba celebrations in Ilaro town compared to other towns, Oba Olugbenle clarified that the Ilaro Muslim Elite, represented by Chief Abu-Satar Idowu Hamed, Otun Baaroyin of Ilaro-Yewa, had previously sought permission to organize the event under the name “Gbagede Olu Ilaro.” Despite initial approval, logistical challenges have delayed its implementation.
The monarch expressed his desire for the event’s revival, urging Chief Imam Tajudeen Adewunmi, Chief Imam of Ilaro-Yewa Central Mosque and Secretary of the Ogun State League of Imams & Alfas, and Otun Baaroyin to collaborate on meticulous planning to ensure a successful maiden edition next year.
Addressing economic challenges facing residents, Oba Olugbenle appealed to traders in Ilaro and Yewa at large to moderate prices, particularly of essential goods, to accommodate low-income earners who are increasingly burdened by rising costs.
Oba Olugbenle who has called upon traders to consider the economic hardships faced by many and to trade with integrity and compassion emphasized that wealth should not be pursued at the expense of fairness and empathy.
He urged traders to conduct their businesses with the fear of God, ensuring that essential goods remain affordable for the less-privileged.
Oba Olugbenle whose atement highlighted the importance of ethical commerce and community solidarity, reinforcing spiritual values as essential for societal well-being, reminded his people that true wealth comes from divine blessings rather than profit margins. He stressed the importance of spiritual values in all endeavours.
The Olu of Ilaro expressed gratitude to the group for their support during his installation as Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas in Abeokuta.
He appreciated their congratulatory visits and gifts, urging them to uphold the region’s honour wherever they go.
The Olu of Ilaro & Paramount Ruler of Yewaland bestowed his royal blessings upon the group and their families, urging them to maintain prayers for the royal family, the Olu-in-Council, Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State, and Nigeria as a whole.
Earlier in his address, Chief Thomas Lala, the Acting Chairman of Ilaro-Yewa Honourary Chiefs and Bobaseto of Ilaro-Yewa, congratulated Oba Olugbenle on his reappointment as Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas.
He expressed the group’s delight at the monarch’s leadership and pledged continued loyalty to him, the institution, and the progress of Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State, and Nigeria.
Chief Lala acknowledged ongoing structural developments in Ilaro and Yewaland, attributing them to the efforts of Governor Dapo Abiodun and also Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, through his constituency projects. He lauded the numerous projects across Yewaland initiated by these leaders.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of Ilaro-Yewa and the Olu Ilaro Honourary Chiefs, Chief Lala thanked Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi for their commitment to advancing democracy and development in the region.
Chief Lala’s address highlighted the unity and gratitude of the Ilaro-Yewa community towards their leaders, emphasizing ongoing development initiatives and the importance of collaborative efforts for regional progress.
“We pray that God continues to guide and protect them and their families, including their teams”, Chief Lala enthused.
Several other chiefs also spoke warmly about Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi’s impactful contributions to Ilaro and Yewaland during the event.
Among them were Chief (Mrs.) Adenike Akintade JP, the Iya Eto of Ilaro-Yewa; Chief Sunmola Adebola, the Asoju Egba of Ilaro-Yewa; Chief (Mrs.) Yemisi Oloyo, the Iya Ewe of Ilaro-Yewa; Chief Hassan Babatunde Taiwo, the Otun Mayegun of Ilaro-Yewa; Chief (Mrs.) Adunni Onifade, the Otun Iya Ewe of Ilaro-Yewa; Chief Funmilola Oladotun, the Otun Baajiki of Ilaro-Yewa; Chief (Mrs.) Alaba Adewunmi, the Iya Oge of Ilaro-Yewa; Chief Idowu Onifade, the Otunba Onimoero of Ilaro-Yewa and Chief (Elhadj) Abu-Satar Idowu Hamed, the Otun Baaroyin of Ilaro-Yewa.
Also present at the event were members of the group such as Chief Atinsola Amore, the Bobaseye of Ilaro-Yewa; Chief Segun Kehinde, the Onimoero of Ilaro-Yewa; Chief Wasiu Olawunmi, the Oluomo of Ilaro-Yewa and Chief Deji Ogunleye, the Olori Odo of Ilaro-Yewa.
Later in the ceremony, Oba Olugbenle was presented with a stunning portrait featuring his image and quotes from scriptures on behalf of the group. Chief Lala and Chief (Mrs.) Akintade JP, who skillfully managed the programme throughout its duration, made the presentation.
