LAGOS – The Wale Olomu Memorial Awards (WOMA) is issuing a call to interested, committed, experienced, and reputable volunteers to nominate worthy and inspirational potential recipients for its inaugural awards.
The awards, organized by Femi Akintunde, the coordinator of WOMA, are scheduled to take place from December 9 to 23, 2023, during a two-hour radio show on TopRadio 90.9 FM.
The nominations fall into two main categories: Special Recognition Awards (SRA) and Lifetime Achievement (LAA) Awards.
Unlike typical competitive awards, WOMA’s selection process does not involve voting; instead, a Steering Committee will review the credentials and pedigrees of nominated personalities and identify a deserving candidate for each category.
The committee is encouraged to exercise its judgment, industry knowledge, and familiarity with the Nigerian entertainment scene.
To be considered for the SRA category, nominees should be individuals with immense talent, creativity, and significant contributions to any aspect of the Nigerian music industry, having worked in the field for at least 10 years.
Lifetime Achievement Award nominees should be 35 years and older, and both categories require the candidates to be bonafide Nigerians, regardless of their current location.
Nominations are open for various categories, including Music Producers, Sound Engineers, Studio Managers, Music Video Editors, Artiste Managers, Band Managers, Live Show Photographers, Set Designers, Session Men, Backup Vocalists, Percussionists, Disc/Vid Jockeys, Hype Men/Women, among others (list not exhausted).
The nomination process remains open for volunteers to contribute their nominations and recommendations until the deadline on Friday, November 3, 2023.
Interested volunteers can contact the coordinator of WOMA for an opportunity to join the small-sized Steering Committee.
