“No King Lasts Forever, My Victory Will Come” – Fubara Declares

…Says, “Sometimes You Lose to Win” – Encouragement to Supporters

BONNY, RIVERS STATE, NIGERIA – Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that his time of vindication will surely come, and asserting that no king or authority lasts forever.

Speaking boldly during a public appearance in Bonny, the embattled governor expressed optimism about his political future.

Fubara insisted he does not see himself as losing out in the current situation. He emphasized that God has kept him standing, and that is what matters most to him.

“Everybody will not appreciate your style, but when you know that what you are doing is right, you are sure that in 25 to 30 years, if placed in any box and you are asked a question, you can defend your action – that’s what makes you a man”, he said.

The suspended governor reminded his audience that leadership is temporary and true legacy lies in impactful service.

“No king lives forever, that’s the truth, and no authority lasts forever. But what is important is that within the period that you are in power or when you reigned, I wished you did wonderful things that would speak forever”, Fubara stated.

Addressing criticism directed at him, Fubara maintained that he remains authentic to his personality and principles.

“Some people accused me about a lot of things but the truth about it is that I can’t be what I’m not or who I am.”

Fubara urged his supporters to remain resilient, stating that setbacks are often part of a greater victory.

“And for our people, just be strong – at times, you need to lose to win. For me and anybody who believes in me, I have never considered myself losing anything. It’s when you attach life to things that it bothers you.”

He concluded his remarks with a declaration of confidence in eventual victory: “I know that at the end of the day, our winning will come to us because we are standing on a solid rock.”

Fubara was suspended in March 2025 after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State. In his place, a Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas, was appointed to govern the state for a six-month period.

The political turmoil that led to the emergency rule followed a bitter standoff between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Since his suspension, Fubara has held two meetings with President Tinubu and Minister Wike, in ongoing efforts to resolve the crisis and restore political stability in Rivers State.
