Nigerians Would Grieve Over Scale Of Corruption In Nigeria – Olukoyede, Chairman Of EFCC

ABUJA, FCT, NIGERIA – In a sobering revelation, Ola Olukoyede, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has expressed deep concern over the pervasive corruption in Nigeria.

During a meeting with the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Olukoyede lamented that the sheer scale of embezzlement detailed in case files would bring Nigerians to tears.

He emphasized the staggering amounts siphoned from public coffers, questioning the resilience of the nation amidst such widespread graft.

Olukoyede highlighted dubious practices where unspent budget allocations are swiftly diverted into private accounts before the fiscal year ends, describing them as symptomatic of a systemic issue.

Addressing the root causes, Olukoyede underscored public corruption as the primary culprit, asserting that Nigeria would thrive if this scourge were eradicated.

He condemned the impunity of officials who refuse to be held accountable for their actions, stressing the need for transparency and accountability across both public and private sectors.

Despite the daunting challenges posed by corruption, Olukoyede expressed confidence in the EFCC’s proactive measures under his leadership.

He vowed to stay ahead of corrupt tactics, ensuring Nigerians experience governance that upholds integrity and fosters national development.
