Nigerian Community Greater Manchester Holds 65th Independence Anniversary Celebration October 11

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM – Members of the Nigerian Community Greater Manchester (NCGM) are set to celebrate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester, M14 5NE, United Kingdom.

According to a release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l Magazine and Online Platform, the celebration, scheduled to hold between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., will be graced by eminent dignitaries, including Ambassador Mohammad Maidugu, the Acting High Commissioner of Nigeria to the United Kingdom; Alhaji Umar Bago, Executive Governor of Niger State (Grand Patron); Mr. Ayodele Olawande, Minister for Youth Development (Special Guest); Chief (Mrs.) Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, Iyaloja-General of Nigeria (Mother of the Day); and Mr. Seyi Tinubu (Grand Patron).

Representing over 250,000 Nigerians in Greater Manchester, Alhaji Abiola Kumoye, Chairman of NCGM, stated that the event aims to strengthen unity, inclusivity, and progress among Nigerians in the diaspora.

While appreciating the Nigerian High Commission in London for its unwavering support, Kumoye commended its consistent efforts in promoting Nigeria’s image and fostering national cohesion abroad.

“Our community has faced challenges that tested our unity and resolve, but we have always emerged stronger. Together, we can build a community that reflects the best of Nigeria – resilient, progressive, and united”, he said.

The Independence celebration will also feature an exciting lineup of Nollywood stars and entertainers from Nigeria, including Zack Orji, Nino B, Gentle Jack, Benedict Johnson, Seyi Law, Labista, Chuddy K, Konga, Danfo Driver, and Sa’ad Balogun, who are expected to thrill the audience with outstanding performances.

Alhaji Kumoye reaffirmed his commitment to leading with integrity, transparency, and dedication, urging members of the Nigerian community to remain steadfast, patriotic, and supportive of one another.

He also assured guests of maximum security and a fun-filled celebration, promising that the event would be one to remember.

“As we celebrate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, let us hold fast to the values that made us the Giant of Africa and work together toward a more prosperous future”, Kumoye concluded
