ABUJA – The Nigeria Police Force has officially distanced itself from the “safety tips” circulating on social media.
These tips were purportedly attributed to the Department of Force Intelligence (DFI) and were aimed at providing safety guidance for inter-state travelers within the country.
According to a statement released by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra, who serves as the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja, it was clarified that the said information did not originate from any official department within the Nigeria Police Force.
The statement emphatically stated that these tips were neither endorsed nor issued by the Police Force.
“In recent days, there has been a proliferation of these travel safety tips on social media, falsely claiming to be from the Department of Force Intelligence (DFI).”
The statement reiterated that these “safety tips” did not have their origin within any official department of the Nigeria Police Force, and the public was urged to exercise caution and refrain from relying on them.
While the safety and well-being of Nigerians remain a top priority, the statement stressed the importance of seeking information from reliable and official sources.
“Misinformation, especially when it exaggerates the security situation, can lead to undue panic.
“The Nigeria Police Force encourages the public to rely on official information provided through its social media channels and other authorized sources for accurate and up-to-date information concerning security and safety matters.
