“My Age Confused Men Who Said They Loved Me” – Tiwa Savage Opens Up

…Says, Men Grew Confused After Learning My True Age

LAGOS, NIGERIA – Popular Nigerian music star, Tiwa Savage, has opened up about a deeply personal and often misunderstood aspect of her life – her age and how it affects her relationships.

The award-winning hip-hop singer revealed that growing older has influenced how men relate to her, particularly those who admire or express interest in her.

Speaking in an interview on Okay Africa TV’s official YouTube channel, Tiwa shared that some men become uncertain or withdrawn when they find out her real age.

Tiwa explained that at the beginning of her career, many people assumed she was significantly younger than she actually was.

Her youthful appearance in early music videos contributed to the misconception. “I believe that many people were unaware of my age in the beginning of my musical career,” she said.

According to her, she never felt the need to hide or lie about her age when she started in the music industry.

However, as time went on, the topic began to draw attention – particularly when it came to her romantic life.

Tiwa recounted how some men, who initially claimed to love her, started to hesitate or pull back after discovering she was older than them.

“Some men claimed to love me but were perplexed by my age because I’m older than them”, she shared.

With a mix of humour and honesty, she added, “Even some kids are into me, but they are confused because they see me as their aunty.”

Her candid comment highlighted the awkward tension that sometimes exists between public perception and private reality.

This revelation offers insight into the complex realities celebrities face in their personal lives. In cultures where age differences in relationships are often scrutinized, Tiwa’s experience is a reflection of the societal pressures and biases that can complicate genuine romantic connections.

Tiwa’s story underscored the unique challenges faced by women – especially those in the public eye – when age becomes a focal point of judgment.

Her openness not only humanized her experience, but also sheds light on how assumptions, societal expectations, and ageist attitudes can undermine sincere relationships.
