ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – In a candid interview with StarTrend Int’l magazine and online, Mrs. Aminat Agbeke Hamed, a well-respected businesswoman and dedicated member of both the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Ilaro-Yewa Branch, and the Ladies Association within the Mosque, offers her insights on attaining the milestone of 70 years of age.

Celebrated on Saturday, May 12, 2024, at her residence in Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State, her birthday marks a significant milestone in a journey filled with both challenges and triumphs.

Reflecting on your 70th birthday, how was the occasion?

Alhamdulillah! I express deep gratitude to God for granting me this momentous day. I extend sincere appreciation to my husband, Chief Sebil Hamed, whose unwavering support has been a pillar in my life.

My heartfelt thanks also go to my family, friends, for their unwavering support and prayers throughout the years, and especially to Chief Abu-Satar Idowu Hamed, whose steadfast presence has been a source of strength throughout life’s challenges.

Despite my initial plan to host the Asalat ceremony at my residence, which was organized by my group, the Ladies Association, Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Ilaro-Yewa Branch, my children surprised me with an alternative arrangement to commemorate the milestone and the celebration was a testament to love and unity among loved ones.

My heartfelt prayer for them is that God continues to bless, guide, and protect each and every one of us. May we all be granted many more years on this earth in good health.

What can you share about your journey to this age?

Life has been a journey filled with both trials and blessings. Through it all, I am grateful for the wisdom and resilience that have sustained me. Celebrating 70 years of good health is a testament to God’s mercy and grace.

Could you elaborate on your life’s journey?

After completing primary school, I embarked on a career in textile trading under the mentorship of the late Alhaja Sidikat Balogun. Spending two decades in her service, I transitioned to entrepreneurship after her death, establishing my own business in textile trading.

Following the establishment of my own business, I actively marketed my products in various towns and villages within the Yewa South/North local government area of Ogun State, including Oja-Odan, Ijohun, Abepe, and others.

Subsequently, I secured a permanent shop at Sayedero Market in Ilaro-Yewa, where I regularly showcase my merchandise during market days. Additionally, I have another permanent shop located at Leslie Road, Ilaro-Yewa.

What advice do you have for today’s youth?

I urge our young ones to prioritize education and diligence, avoiding the allure of quick wealth. Respect for parental guidance and surrounding oneself with positive influences are crucial for a fulfilling life.

Could you share a bit about yourself?

My journey is a testament to the values of faith, hard work, and gratitude that have shaped my life. Born in Owode-Yewa, Ogun State, to a Muslim family. My father, Alhaji Olabisi Nasiru, hailed from Olorunda Quarters, Iworo-Awori, in the Badagry area of Lagos State. On the other hand, my mother, Mrs. Sinatu Nasiru, had roots in both Igbogila in Yewa North local government and Ado-Odo in Ado-Odo/Ota local government areas of Ogun State.

Through the grace of Allah, my husband, Chief Sebil Amoo Hamed, holds esteemed positions as the Chairman of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Ilaro-Yewa Branch, and has served two terms as the President of the Tailoring Association of Nigeria (TAN), Ogun State Chapter. Our union has been blessed with children and grandchildren.

With a deep-rooted faith and a wealth of experience, Mrs. Aminat Hamed continues to inspire others through her resilience and dedication to both her business and community and the enduring power of community support. Her story serves as an inspiration, embodying resilience, faith.
