IBADAN – Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, has said the ceding of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso to Oyo State by the National Universities Commission (NUC) is a fulfiment of the campaign promise made by Governor Seyi Makinde in 2019.
Ogundoyin stated this while addressing indigenes of Oyo State working in LAUTECH under the aegis of Oyo State Forum who paid a thank you visit to the House of Assembly, Secretariat, Ibadan.
The staff who could not hide their joy, sang and danced to appreciate the State legislature for lending their support to the efforts to end the various crises which rocked the University.
The Speaker said the unique leadership style and the determination and resolution of Governor Makinde to serve the people of Oyo State has again been rewarded with the handing over of LAUTECH to the pacesetter State.
Ogundoyin noted that now that the Institution is fully owned by Oyo State, the present administration will now focus on ways of transforming the institution as well as addressing its challenges in line with the grand plan to transform the University.
In his words, “May I also specially appreciate members of Oyo State Forum in LAUTECH for this visit which was to thank us and also commend Governor Makinde for this monumental achievement. I remember that we started receiving reports on the crises in LAUTECH immediately we were sworn in.
“I can say that many resolutions calling on the Executive arm of Government to address the issue of LAUTECH ownership as well as that of the disengaged staff of the institution were passed and forwarded to the Governor by the House. Today history has been made. The battle has been won and the administration of Governor Makinde has etched his name in gold. What the previous administration found impossible was achieved by the People’s Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde.”
He advised the entire workforce of the university, students and the residents of Ogbomoso to key into the developmental vision of the State Government which is aimed at totally repositioning the University by making it one of the best state owned and technologically driven institutions in the country..
Other Lawmakers who also received the LAUTECH staff, the Majority Leader, Hon Sanjo Adedoyin, Hon. Wumi Oladeji (Ogbomoso North) and Hon. Simeon Oyeleke (Ogo Oluwa/Surulere) described the full take over of LAUTECH by Oyo State as a commendable feat.
