Lagos LG Boss Performs Groundbreaking For Modern Museum, E-Library

EPE, EPE LG, LAGOS, NIGERIA – The Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Chairman, Surah Animashaun, has performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Museum and E-Library Centre in the local government council. 

Animashaun said that the state-of-the-art Museum and library would serve as a repository of the local government’s collective and shared memories, noting that it would contain relics, exhibits, and interactions that showcase community’s evolution and monumental developments.

She noted that the Museum would open up Epe local government council for tourism and spread the unique and distinct cultural heritage of people from different places and walks of life, adding that it would also boost residents’ pride and help the council economy by increasing its revenue.

The Chairperson added that the edifice when completed would serve as an educational tool for children as it would enhance hand-on-learning opportunities that would revive history as students would develop a stronger sense of belonging and deepen their cultural roots by exploring the museum’s artifacts.

“I am happy to be here, I thank the Epe residents for their prayers and support. I am proud of the local government council, especially the growth recorded so far. I am proud of the togetherness, passion, and zeal to make it greater.” Animashaun said.

She said that the setting up a contemporary library in the local government was an attestation for her passion for education in the council, noting that it was essential for 21st-century education that would provide an extensive range and collection of digital and print resources; such as e-books, online databases, and multimedia materials.

“Indeed, the Museum and library would serve as tourist attraction to indigenes and foreigners, which would in turn move the local government and the community forward”, the Chairperson said.

Commending the Chairman for the project, a former Supervisory Councillor for Environment, Mr. Shamusideen Adio said, “I am proud of the youths and ready to take part in anything that will give a drive to the youths, strengthen and motivate them. This is a blessing, and I will see that this project is finished well.”
