LAGOS, NIGERIA – Nollywood actor Kevin Ikeduba has candidly criticized the industry, labeling it as being filled with the most fake individuals who struggle to show genuine love and support for one another.
Ikeduba highlighted how actors and actresses in Nollywood often present a false image, pretending to be something they are not. In a recently resurfaced clip, he openly advised his colleagues to abandon their deceptive ways.
“Truth be told, I dey laugh anytime wey I hear say social media na fake life. Una see social media…e dey learn for where Nollywood dey. Nollywood movie industry…na there wey the fakest life and fakest people dey. If you think I am one of them, na your opinion, I accept.
“Why don’t you guys help yourself, Nollywood people and entertainers? You will see una selves but can’t help each other. Be living fake life, pretending to yourself to be who you aren’t.
Who told you you’re a celebrity, you who is forming to be one? Have you ever enter market, riot start or traffic start because of your presence?
“You all should change your ways, love no dey Nollywood. Stop pretending. If you don’t like a person, let the person know you don’t like them,” Kevin said in pidgin.
The resurfaced clip comes on the heels of Yoruba actress Motilola Akinlami’s bold accusations against her senior colleague, Kunle Afod, and his wife, Desola Afod, for allegedly sabotaging her career.
Motilola shared a heartfelt video detailing the ill treatment she has faced due to Kunle Afod’s interference.
She specifically mentioned Desola Afod’s slanderous social media allegations against her, which she vehemently denied.
Motilola also pleaded with Kunle to stop defaming her, as she no longer wished to maintain any relationship with him.
Also, weeks earlier, actress Kiitan Bukola called out an unnamed colleague for manipulating a movie producer against her.
She shared her frustration over being rejected by a producer because of this colleague’s influence. Kiitan admonished the colleague to stop being a hypocrite and to show genuine feelings instead of feigning affection.
