ABEOKUTA – Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Ladi Adebutu has been confirmed as the authentic candidate of the party that would contest the Saturday, March 18, 2023 Governorship election in Ogun State.
This confirmation came on the heals of rumour making the rounds that Lado as being fondly called and his deputy, Hon. Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade (Triple A) have been delisted from the INEC’s list.
According to the Residence Electoral Commissioner (REC) of INEC in Ogun State, Mr. Niyi Ijalaye who dispelled the rumour, described it as unfounded.
Ijalaye who reacted to the rumor while speaking with journalists in Abeokuta, on Saturday, March 10, 2023 said, “It is a rumour that is not founded, that is all”.
The INEC REC insisted that, Adebutu and Akinlade remained the Governorship and deputy candidates of PDP in Ogun State, and called on residents of the State to ignore the rumour.
Ijalaye said, Adebutu would be participating alongside his deputy in the coming March 18, 2023 governorship election in Ogun State, as the authentic Governorship and deputy candidates of the PDP, respectively.
It would be recalled, reports that PDP has no Governorship and deputy candidates in the forthcoming March 18, 2023 governorship election in Ogun State surfaced on the social media during the week.
It was aleged that some members of the opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State have been circulating the news that INEC has not recognised Hon. Ladi Adebutu as the Gubernatorial candidate of the party which the INEC described as unfounded.
