ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Ogun State Government has announced the near completion of the 12.4-kilometre Ilisan–Ilara–Akaka–Ode-Remo Road, with only lane markings and kerb painting left to conclude the project.
Asphalt works have been completed along the Ode-Remo–Akaka and Ilisan–Ilara–Akaka stretches, alongside extensive drainage and earthworks across the corridor.
The reconstructed road is already easing movement, improving safety, and restoring economic activities in communities that were long cut off by poor road conditions.
The government noted that the road now provided a safer access route for people who previously had to cross the runway from Ilishan to reach Akaka, Ilara, and Ode-Remo, removing a long-standing risk to commuters and residents.
With the project at its final stage, the intervention is expected to open up Akaka and neighbouring towns to renewed socio-economic activity, further strengthening connectivity and development across Remoland.
