It would be recalled that the couple were assassinated by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Saturday, March 18, 2023.

The people who spoke with StarTrend Int’l Magazine within and outside the ancient town of Ilaro-Yewa condemned the dastardly act of killers of their illustrious son and his wife, both of whom they described as peaceful, kind, easygoing and God-fearing during their lifetime.

They passionately appealed to IGP Usman Baba to use his good offices to unravel the killing of the couple, who had contributed immensely to the socio-cultural development of Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.

The Ilaro-Yewa people however expressed their confidence in the IGP and officers and men of the Nigerian Police as efficient and devoted security agents upholding international standards.

All the people interviewed by StarTrend Int’l Magazine noted that the couple were socialites that had no interest in frivolous activities, rather loved and assisted anyone that came their ways.

Recall, the couple were murdered by yet to be identified assassins who also injured their house-help during the dastardly act.

According to a police source, the incident occured at number 1 Adefolu Drive near New World Hotel, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos, and the Lagos Police Command said it has launched a manhunt for the killers.

It was also learnt that following the receipt of the distress call, some of the neighbours rushed to the house where they found the Egbeoluwas dead and their domestic staff severely beaten.

“The neighbours immediately called 112 and they were waiting a response from the police”, a witness who do not want her name mentioned said.

The police officer said that the bodies of the deceased couple were found following a distress call that was sent to it by some neighbours in the area.

Though, no arrest has been made, but the tragedy has thrown the entire neighbourhood of the deceased into instant mourning.

The remains of the couple who were described as very responsible and easygoing have been evacuated to a public mortuary.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident was yet to give further clarification on the crime as at the time of filing this report.
