Ijebu East LG Chairman Pledges Support For Social Register Of The Poor

OGBERE: The Transition Committee Chairman Of Ijebu East LG, Hon. Callistus Falujo, has pledged his unalloyed support for the Social Register of the poor and vulnerable in Ogun State, in general, and Ijebu East Local Government, in particular.

According to a press release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine & www.startrendinternational.com by Olatunji Omowunmi, Senior Information Officer, Ijebu East LG, Ogbere, Hon. Falujo made the pledge while welcoming the representative of National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Officer, (NSSCO), Mr. Akeem Busari, and the Ogun State Operating Coordinating Unit, (SOCU), Officers, who were on sensitization/courtesy visit to the Chairman and the Community Based Targeting Team, (CBTT), of the Local Government.

The Representative, who reiterated the fact that, the visit was in preparation for the Social Register of the poor and vulnerable, in Ogun State, disclosed that the program was established in 2016, by the Federal Government, in partnership with the World Bank, because of the uneven distribution of resources in Nigeria, in which Ogun State happened to be among the States that have been lagging behind.

Apart from the socio-economic benefits of the resources and data, so gathered, to both the governmental and non-governmental organizations, Busari emphasized the need to give succour and ameliorate the sufferings of the hapless, helpless and voiceless in the communities.

He, therefore, charged members of the Community Based Targeting Team, (CBTT) to be agile, in carrying out the assignment given to them, by seeing the job, as a call to serve.

Busari, finally enumerated the roles and responsibilities of both the Community and the CBTT, with each team consisting of Community Desk Officer (CDO), National Orientation Agency(NOA), 2 members, 4 Enumerators, while 2 Grieviance Redress Mechanism personnel would be chosen from the Community.

Hon. Falujo, in his address, gave his unalloyed support, towards the success of the program, while thanking Ogun state Government, under the able leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, for the quick intervention and support, by considering the poor and vulnerable in Ijebu East Local Government Area, as part of the beneficiaries.
