Ifo LG Boss Hon. Salami Sets Up Committee On Relief Materials Distribution

IFO, OGUN STATE: The Chairman, Transition Committee, Ifo Local Government, Hon. Fola Salami, has set up a Committee to co-ordinate the distribution of relief materials, provided by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, for the poor and downtrodden people of the Local Government Area, in order to cushion the crippling effects of the forthcoming lockdown order, occasioned by the outbreak of Coronavirus, in the State.

According to a press release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine & www.startrendinternational.com by Ayoola Obadimu, Head, Information, the Committee was consciously formed to include every stakeholder, including the religious leader, Baale, CDA, market leader, Leader of Non-Indigine Associations, as well as representatives of the opposition parties, in order to ensure concerted efforts at combating the spread of the dreadful virus.

The LG boss, however, charged the Committee members to be conscientious, in the discharge of their duties to humanity, by shunning selfishness and favouritism, adding that the fight against the spread of the virus, in the country, had become a unifying factor of concern, for one another’s health.

Hon. Salami, further revealed that, though, the materials were going to be distributed along the political wards, he however, directed the Committee to report any politician that attempted to disturb or highjack the process, in any part of the local government area, for necessary punitive action.

He reiterated the fact that, the first phase of distribution was for the most vulnerable and poor, who could hardly eke a living.

While speaking at the occasion, Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Hon. Adijat Adeleye implored every member of the Committee to see the task as a collective one, and not an opportunity to satisfy any close friend, family member, party or political associate.

In the same vein, Hon. Ganiyu Oyedele, Minority Leader, representing Ifo Constituency 11, charged each member of the Committee to see himself/herself as representative of government, by following the guidelines, already outlined for the distribution exercise at each center, so that at the end of the day, according to Hon.Oyedele, Ifo Local Government, would be a reference point of diligence, in alleviating the impact of the lockdown, on the suffering masses.
