LAGOS, NIGERIA – Popular Yoruba Nollywood actor, Kunle Afod, has opened up on why he was banned from filmmaking for a period of time. In a recent interview, the actor recounted his fallout with movie marketers and explained the events that led to the ban.
Revealing details of the incident, Afod said, “I’m someone who always observes situations, and I think ahead. When we were still in the era of cassette for film recording, I already knew that CD was coming to take over, and I informed some marketers that CD would soon take over from cassette.”
He continued, “When DVD came, it was better than CD, and we adopted it immediately too. When it got to the era of uploading our movies on the internet, the marketers weren’t aware of it, and we told some of them about it, but they didn’t listen, and we started uploading our own movies on the internet.”
“Instead of the marketers asking me about it, they saw me as somebody who wanted to ruin their market. I was banned from filmmaking by marketers because of that,” Afod lamented.
The actor revealed that the marketers eventually invited him for a meeting where he explained everything.
“When it was clear to them that I didn’t mean any harm, I told them to announce that they had lifted the ban on me, but they refused to do so, and I decided to part ways with them”, he concluded.
