FCT, ABUJA, NIGERIA – Isaac Fayose, younger brother to the former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose, has opened up on the devastating outcome of his ₦105 million investments in an amala restaurant in Abuja, revealing how employee theft and sabotage led to the collapse of the business within just five months.
Speaking on “The Honest Bunch Podcast”, Fayose, recounted how his goodwill attempt to create jobs turned into a painful loss.
“I opened an amala restaurant last year. I said, ‘Let me create jobs.’ ₦105 million in Abuja. Let me at least take 50 people out of poverty”, he recalled.
According to him, the staff exploited his generosity from the start. Two generators were allegedly stolen, deliberately sabotaging the restaurant’s ability to process POS payments.
From there, things worsened: employees reportedly instructed customers to transfer payments directly into their personal accounts.
“They chopped the amala restaurant and finished it in five months.
“They turned me into a national cake. They didn’t know they were destroying themselves because I created that job for them.
“They are out of a job now, and I have scrapped the place and sold it for ₦58 million. Investment gone”, he said.
Fayose’s story has reignited conversations about the challenges of entrepreneurship in Nigeria, particularly when it comes to trust, employee management, and theft.
