KATSINA, KATSINA STATE, NIGERIA – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has opened up about the immense pressure he faced in the early days of his presidency, revealing that the weight of Nigeria’s economic crisis nearly drove him to retreat from public media engagement.
Speaking during a recent visit to Katsina State, Tinubu shared that the barrage of public criticism and the harsh economic realities initially made him contemplate withdrawing from reading newspapers or following broadcasts altogether.
“When we started, it was challenging, and I almost ran away from watching or reading the newspapers.
”I got discouraged but stayed put on my decisions, believing that the ability of a leader to take decisions at the right time is the hallmark of leadership”, the president admitted.
Despite the early challenges, President Tinubu expressed confidence that the tough economic reforms introduced by his administration are beginning to bear fruit.
“Nigeria is a success, the economy is turning around, it has bent the corner”, he stated with optimism.
