How Armed Gunmen Abducted Ogun Journalist, Seun Odunlami In Broad Daylight

ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – Publisher of the online news platform, Newsjaunt, Seun Odunlami, was abducted by suspected armed men in the Oke-Ilewo area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

Odunlami was taken at approximately 1:00 pm while standing outside a Bank, where he had gone to conduct a transaction with a colleague.

The daylight abduction occurred in a bustling part of the city, drawing concern from onlookers.

According to a colleague who witnessed the incident, but reportedly preferred to remain anonymous, the suspected armed men arrived in a car and swiftly whisked Odunlami away.

The eyewitness recounted that the armed men handcuffed Odunlami before forcing him into their vehicle.

When his colleague reached out to him on the phone to inquire about his whereabouts, Odunlami reportedly said that the abductors identified themselves as members of the Special Anti-Fraud Unit, claiming they were taking him to Ikoyi, Lagos.

“The gunmen arrived in a car, handcuffed Seun, and dragged him in. When I called him on the phone, he said they were from the Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi”, the colleague recounted.

Following this brief phone conversation, Odunlami’s phone was switched off, leaving him unreachable. The circumstances of his abduction remain unclear, and his location is currently unknown.
