Since assuming office, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has made affordable housing a cornerstone of his administration’s urban renewal and infrastructural development agenda.

With a strong commitment to making home-ownership accessible, his government has launched a series of innovative, people-oriented housing projects across Ogun State, setting a new benchmark for urban living.

Governor Abiodun’s administration has spearheaded the construction of thousands of housing units in Kemta, Kobape, Iperu, Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu, Ota, and Ilaro. While some of these estates are already completed, others are nearing completion.

These developments cater to low-, middle-, and high-income earners, ensuring that people across various financial brackets can own modern, well-structured homes.

Among the standout projects is the Prince Court Estate in Kemta, which has provided hundreds of families with affordable, high-quality housing, ditto Kobape Estate.

Also, the King’s Court Estate in Abeokuta exemplifies the administration’s commitment to excellence, boasting modern infrastructure, well-planned road networks, drainage systems, solar-powered streetlights, and recreational spaces.

Recognizing the need to revamp aging Government Residential Areas (GRAs), Governor Abiodun has launched urban renewal projects in key locations, including the Ibara GRA in Abeokuta.

These initiatives aim to restore the beauty, functionality, and value of these estates, transforming them into smart, livable communities with state-of-the-art infrastructure.

A unique feature of this housing revolution is the use of direct labour, engaging local artisans and construction workers – including bricklayers, carpenters, painters, and welders – to execute the projects.

This strategy has created employment opportunities, enhanced skill development, and empowered residents, ensuring that the benefits of these initiatives extend beyond just housing.

Ogun State’s strategic location as a gateway to Lagos and other parts of the country makes it a prime destination for real estate development.

Governor Abiodun’s administration is capitalizing on this advantage by positioning the state as a top-tier residential hub, offering high-quality, yet affordable housing as an alternative for professionals and businesses seeking proximity to Lagos.

Governor Dapo Abiodun’s housing initiatives underscore a visionary approach to urban planning and development. By blending affordability, aesthetics, and functionality, his administration is reshaping Ogun State’s housing landscape, making homeownership more accessible and positioning the state as a model for sustainable housing development in Nigeria.
