ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – Hon. Isiaq Abiodun Akinlade, representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, marked his 58th birthday on Friday, March 21, 2025, by bringing joy to his constituents at a grand ceremony.

The event, held at Julasem Event Centre, Oke-Ela, Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State, was attended by dignitaries, including political leaders from Yewa and across Ogun State.

In his address, Hon. Akinlade expressed gratitude to God for His kindness and mercy towards him and his family.

He stated that his commitment to making his people happy stems from God’s blessings upon his life.

The fourth-term representative highlighted his efforts in empowering his constituents. These include securing federal employment for young graduates, constructing palaces for traditional rulers, and providing cash grants to businesswomen in Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency.

Hon. Akinlade used the occasion to appreciate Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, his executives, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the state and constituency levels, and his numerous supporters across Ogun State.

He reaffirmed his open-door policy, encouraging anyone with concerns or issues to reach out to him personally.

Reacting to recent comments by Hon. Laiwola Taiwo, a respected leader who allegedly made derogatory remarks about him, Hon. Akinlade attributed the outburst to emotional deregulation and urged the public to disregard it.

“As a distinguished parliamentarian, a man of honour, peace, and dignity committed to the unity, progress, and well-being of my people, I don’t believe I deserve such unfounded remarks from someone who once served as my campaign director during my gubernatorial bid in Ogun State,” he said.

He reaffirmed his focus on service and development, stating that Ogun West will achieve its political aspirations in 2027 through unity and collective action.

Hon. Akinlade recalled his past political relationship with Chief Lai Taiwo, emphasizing that Taiwo once hailed him as the best leader Ogun West had ever produced, even over his current political ally – Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi.

“For the brotherly, mutual understanding and respect both of us shared till now, I am constrained not to engage in a dispute with him but rather to advise him to tread carefully,” Akinlade stated.

Hon. Akinlade, fondly called Baba Omokeke, urged political leaders, traditional rulers (Kabiesis), and stakeholders from Ogun Central and Ogun East to support Ogun West’s political aspirations for success in 2027.

He expressed deep appreciation to Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for his continued support and prayed for his strength and guidance.

Hon. Akinlade, who holds multiple chieftaincy titles, including Akinrogun of Ipokia Kingdom, Bobagunwa of Itoroland, and Asiwaju of Owode-Yewa, emphasized the need for unity, forgiveness, and collective effort as Ogun West prepares for 2027.

“Let us forget and forgive, as perfection belongs to Almighty Allah. All hands must be on deck as we journey towards 2027. We pray to Almighty Allah to spare our lives with good health. In unity, love, and togetherness, we shall break the jinx,” he concluded.

Ealier on that Friday, Hon. Abiodun Akinlade attended the Jumat Service at the Ilaro Central Mosque, Ilaro-Yewa. During the service, he extended his generosity by empowering fellow worshippers, giving each of them One Hundred Thousand Naira.

As part of his philanthropic efforts, Hon. Akinlade donated two million naira towards the ongoing construction of the mosque. Also, he contributed five hundred thousand naira to the Alfas in celebration of his birthday.

The Chief Imam of Ilaro Central Mosque, Imam (Sheikh) Tajudeen Mustapha-Adewunmi, congratulated Hon. Akinlade on his 58th birthday anniversary.

He also praised him for his unwavering commitment to the propagation and development of Islam.

The event was graced by dignitaries from various walks of life. Renowned broadcaster Messrs. Goke Babalola, Hakeem Yewalawa and Sodimu Okanlawon (Showshow) co-anchored the programme, adding a touch of prestige to the celebration.
