Hon Abiodun Akinlade Sets To Continue Service To Humanity At Senate

OWODE-YEWA – As a visionary and lover of humanity, Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade (AIA), has indeed demonstrated in many spheres of life that he truly has the welfare of his people in mind.

He is a friend of his community and in the history of Ogun West he had assisted many youths, atleast more than his colleagues in the scene.

AIA has facilitated the employment of many youths into the Federal Civil Service, a feat that stands him out of others.

In his quest to do more, Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade, a tried and tested gentleman who can be trusted is also a man you’d not regret having him as your friend. A very good friend indeed, who will share your problem with you and keep you happy and smiling,

“Painstaking effort, they say, is the price for success in life”. And success or achievement is not by how much money one has or material wealth in his possession, but a successful and an achiever is he who shares his knowledge with others to make a positive change in an environment.

Hence, Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the Oronna Hall, Ilaro-Yewa, before a large crowd presented his letter of intent to contest for the Senatorial seat of Ogun West Senatorial District at the coming General elections in Nigeria.

Below is full text of his declaration:

LETTER OF INTENT TO CONTEST FOR THE SENATORIAL SEAT OF OGUN WEST SENATORIAL DISTRICT PRESENTED BY HON. ABIODUN ISIAQ AKINLADE ON MARCH 1, 2022

To the glory of Almighty God and service to humanity, I extend my warmest greetings to you.

“I humbly write to intimate you of my utmost intention to contest for the Senatorial Seat of Ogun West in the 2023 General Election under our great party, All Progressive Congress (APC).

“I was born in Owode, Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State on the 21st of March, 1967. Between 2003 and 2015, I had a rare privilege to represent the good people of Ipokia & Yewa South Federal Constituency at The Federal House of Representatives for a record of three consecutive terms.

“The honour I will forever be grateful for. I was privileged to be The Chairman of Science and Technology Committee for 8 years out of my 12 years in the House of Representatives. I used the office to reposition the Ministry of Science and Technology and better the lives of people in Ogun West and Ogun State in the areas of employments, projects, empowerments etc.

As a result of my legislative experiences and leadership qualities, I was appointed Special Adviser on Special Duties in the House of Representatives between 2015-2019.

”In 2021, I was nominated by the Ogun State Governor, confirmed by the Senate and approved by President Muhammed Buhari GCFR, President, Federal Republic of Nigeria to represent Ogun State at the Federal Character Commission, the position I am currently occupying.

‘In all my political callings, I have always exhibited a high degree of responsibility, courage, honesty, passion and hard work as I have been able to facilitate Federal employments for over 650 youths.

“With my cognate experience as a ranking member of the parliament, it will give me

opportunities and advantages at the Senate “ Red Chamber” to bring more dividends of Democracy to Ogun West.

“I have always been known as a grass-rooter, philanthropist, man of the people and Baba Omokekeke (Father of The Youths).

“I am humbly soliciting for your support, counsel, prayers and votes to represent the good people of Ogun West at the Senate.”

Besides, the Federal Commissioner, representing Ogun State at Federal Character Commission, Rt. Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade, popularly called (Baba Omo keekeke) is a man whom the angelic spark has brightened his humble beginning,

Circumstances of his birth was however unique and divine; his early life quite promising and his adulthood immensely fruitful.

He is a man with insuppressible courage, a shrewd poliƟcian and a distinguished leader with uncommon passion for his people. The ever-smiling peoples honourable is a philanthropist and an icon of humility.

Abiodun’s great grandfather, Kuole, a brave warrior led his people from Isaga-Orile to Ado-Odo, where he eventually settled at Isaga Quarters, Oju-Sango.

Akinlade Lasisi, Abiodun’s grandfather founded ‘Musulumi fe Alafia’ Mosque in Ado-Odo in 1928. He was later turbaned as the Baba Adinni in Ado-Odo before he left to settle in Owode-Yewa. He became one of the first settlers in Owode-Yewa and the location where he settled is called Iga Baba Adinni till date. He donated the land on which Owode Central Mosque was built.

Yusuf Ajisafe Akinlade, a.k.a Ajinikirun, Baba Onipako, one of the sons of Lasisi Akinlade, was the father of Hon. Abiodun Isiaq. He was upright, religious, principled and a community leader.

The first Asiwaju of Owode-Yewa and also the first Baba Adinni of Owode-Yewa.

Abiodun’s mother, Alhaja Bintu Amope, was born in Irogun-lsaga, in Ilaro District of Yewa South.

Amope’s father, the late Sarumi Lawani was the first Councilor elected to represent Isaga Abata, Ilaro District, between 1954 and 1958. He was part of the Legislative members that built Oronna Hall, Ilaro and his name which was engraved with marble inside the hall is still there till date.

Abiodun’s mother suffered the fate of having eight female children, all who died before reaching the age of two, until the birth of the 9th, who is Abiodun, a male who remains her only surviving child as she was unable to have another after him. Suffice to say that Abiodun Isiaq is by every means a child of destiny and harbinger of joy, considering the circumstances of his birth.

He came to the world when all hope seemed to have been lost for the mother.

Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade was born at Owode-Yewa on March 21, 1967, on the day of Eid-el-Adha (lleya Day) after his unusual pregnancy had lasted for over 13 months.

Abiodun Isiaq began his elementary education at St Paul’s Anglican Primary School, Owode-Yewa. Thereafter, he proceeded to Area Community High School Owode, and later to Community High School, Alapoti for his secondary education.

He studied Accountancy at The Polytechnic Ibadan for both his National Diploma and Higher National Diploma, and passed out in 1991.

While at The Polytechnic lbadan, Abiodun was involved in Student Union politics and served as a member of Students’ Representative Council and the Treasurer of the Students Union Government (SUG) respectively. He did his one-year compulsory National Youth Service Corps at Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), Ibadan.

In 2000, he gained admission into the University of Ado Ekiti and graduated in 2002 with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA). In December 2012, he was awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree in

Management by Université des Sciencies Appliquee et Management, Port Novo, Benin Republic.

Abiodun’s working life started in 1993, when he was employed as an Account Officer by Automania Nigeria Limited, the firm that pioneered Auto-Fair in Nigeria. Within 7 years, Abiodun rose to become the General Manager of the company before resigning in 2002 to pursue his interest in politics.

Akinlade moved to Sango/Ota in 1997 where he has established himself, set up a School and other businesses.

As an activist armed with passion, zeal and enthusiasm towards the betterment of the lives of his people, In 2001 he joined other brilliant, focused and progressive like minds to found the Yewa Youths Agenda Forum later changed to Yewa Awori Youths Agenda Forum (YAYAF).

The aims of the group were to address the marginalization of the Yewa Awori area of Ogun State and to promote the socio-economic and political development of the area; as well as position an Ogun West person to become Governor of Ogun State in 2003. He served as the Director of Publicity and later Director of Finance of the group.

He was also one of the YAYAF leaders that merged the name Yewa and Awori together to what we now have as Yewa-Awori despite opposition from some quarters.

Akinlade and Akinleye M. were (YAYAF representatives) part of the Ogun West Leader’s delegation to the President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abuja in 2002 to discuss and plead for an Ogun West person to become a Governor in Ogun State in 2003 general election.

The visit to the Presidential villa in Abuja was the turning point in Akinlade’s political journey. On their return, he began consultations with well-meaning members of his Federal Constituency, most importantly the youths. In 2002, he officially identified with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and subsequently declared his intention to represent the people of Yewa South and Ipokia at the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja.

Determined to serve and give the people of Ogun State the best, Akinlade was also a Gubernatorial Aspirant of ACN in 2011, PDP 2015 and APC 2019 elections. respectively.

Akinlade was elected to represent Yewa South/lpokia Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representative in 2003 under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), becoming one of the youngest members of the House from Ogun State.

Between 2003 and 2007 he was also elected, member, representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, and again between 2007 and 2011 he was also elected, as member, representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, He was also lucky to be elected between 2011 and 2015 as member, representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency.

Between 2015 and 2019 Akinlade was appointed, Special Adviser on Special Duties to the Nigerian House of Representatives, National Assembly and 2020-Till-date –he was appointed, Federal Commissioner, representing Ogun State at the Federal Character Commission, Abuja.

Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade has been involved in many responsibilities, both in the federal and state levels. They include Chairman, House Committee on Science and Technology 2011-2015; Chairman, House Committee on Science and Technology 2007-2011; Chairman, House Sub-committee on Small and Medium, Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) 2003-2007 and Sub-Committee Chairman, Industrial Training Funds (ITF).

Others are Member Constitution Review Committee and Vice Chairman Executive Sub Committee of the Constitution Review Committee; Co- Chairman, Nigeria Constitution Review Committee, North West Zone; Chairman Bio-Safety bill public hearing and consideration; Chairman, missing NIGCOMSAT-1 investigation committee; Member Revenue and mobilization Review committee and Member Committee on Works, Industry, Defense, ICT, Public Accounts, Environment, NDDC, FCT, Education, Public service, Commerce; Member of Nigerian Delegates that signed the Construction of SAT 2 and SAT X with China; Member, National Executive Council (NEC) PDP 2007-2010.

He is also Leader of House of Representatives delegation to Science Park Village, Taiwan; Leader of House of Representatives delegation to National Space Center, China; Leader of House of Representatives delegation to Science Olympiad, India; Leader of House of Representatives delegation to NASA Space Centre, USA; Leader of Nigeria House of Representatives delegation to Biotechnology centers and biosafety fields, Philippines and Leader of House of Representatives delegations to Danforth Plant Science Centre, St Louis, Missouri, USA.

During his days in the House of Representatives Hon. Akinlade was able to sponsored and co-sponsored several bills which include the following; Science and Technology Development trust funds bill;  Construction and Maintenance Bill, 2014 (HB.742); National Boundary Commission Act (Amendment) Bill, 2014 (HB.743); National Peace Council Bill, 2014 (HB. 744); Chemical Waste Management Commission Bill, 2014 (HB.745); Maritime Security Agency (Establishment etc.) Bill, (HB. 746); National Integrated Rural Development Agency (Establishment) Bill 2014 (HB. 747) and a Bill to change the name of Egbado South and Egbado North to Yewa South and Yewa North (constitutional amendment)

Hon. Akinlade’s landmark achievements include facilitating employment for over 750 (Seven Hundred and Fifty) graduates into several Agencies of the Federal Government, the feat that has been acknowledged by all and sundry in Ogun State and has earned him the sobriquet of Baba Omo keekeke.

He had also facilitated the establishment of a Science Park in Ogun State, located in Owode Yewa which now house four Federal Government Agencies, namely: National Bio-Technology Development Agency, Bio Resources Centre; Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO) Agro Processing Centre; National Board for Incubator Technology Centre and National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure – Reverse Engineering Centre.

He equally facilitated the establishment of the Incubation Technology Centre at Odogbolu.

As a result of his passion for education and zeal for the development of his community Hon. Akinlade Isiaq Abiodun established a private school – The Gem International School at Owode-Yewa and Sango, in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government area of Ogun State, respectively.

He has also established Hon. Abiodun Akinlade Free ICT Training Centre in Owode and Idiroko where over 6,000 people have been trained.

Aside from giving out Scholarship for indigent students Hon. Abiodun have also empowered many Youth, Women, Traders and Transporters.

For his outstanding performances within and outside his community, Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade have bagged many awards and laurels.

They include The Most Effective And Most Proactive House Of Representative Committee, courtesy – Chairman African Independent Television (AIT); Odua Prestige Award 2008 Award Of Excellence 2008; Ogun State Legislator Of The Year 2009 – National Association of Ogun State students, University of Ado-Ekiti; Legislator Of The Year Award 2010 – City People Magazine and  Outstanding I.T Support Personality – The Nigeria Computer Society, Ogun State Chapter;

Others are House Of Reps Member Of The Year 2012 -Global Excellence Magazine; Media Friendly House Of Reps Member – Nigeria Media Nite Out Awards; Distinguished Leadership Award 2012 – Radio, Television, Theater and Art workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU); National Center for Energy and Environment, Energy Commission of Nigeria, (UNIBEN); Meritorious Award 2013- NLC, Ogun State Chapter; Meritorious Award 2014- Recreation Club Ilaro; Ogun State Personality Award 2014- Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and StarTrend Gold Award for Excellence 2021 among a host of others.

Hon. Isiaq Akinlade is also member to many professional bodies which include Chartered System Accountants; Fellow Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration; Member Institute of Professional Managers and Administrator of Nigeria (IPMA) and Associate Member Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) 2004 Associate Member

In 2018, Akinlade served as State Deputy Director General, Campaign to Prince Dapo Abiodun 2019 Gubernatorial Election.

Akinlade’s performance is not limited to Ogun West as other parts of Ogun State have also benefited from his kindness.

He was decorated as Vice Patron of the most prestigious Abeokuta Sports Club for his numerous contributions to the Club.

Abiodun Akinlade, who is happily married and blessed with lovely children and grandchildren is the Asiwaju of Owode-Yewa and the Baba Adinni of Yewaland, and he is presently representing Ogun State as a Federal Commissioner at the Federal Character Commission, Abuja.

His love and passion for his people remains unshaken and undiluted. He is a man with a strong appetite for development, a grass-rooter and a man with golden touches.

The celebrated lawmaker is a symbol of humanity and humility, a down-to-earth philanthropist and an ever-smiling gentleman who has cast a golden name for himself as “The Hope of the Masses”. The tried, tested that could be trusted and most qualified to represent Ogun West at the Senate.
