The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has vowed that his government would not tolerate hooliganism, banditry, thuggery and cultism in the state.
This came even as he pledged not to take the issue of security of lives and property with levity.
Abiodun spoke on Monday June 24, 2019 while meeting the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders at the Mitros Hall, Ibara, Abeokuta, the State capital.
The Governor vehemently stressed that anyone caught in the unlawful practices would face the wrought of the law, insisting that the state must be distinct among others.
His words: “We will not tolerate cultism, hooliganism, banditry in this state. Anyone caught will face the wrought of the law. This state will not be characterised by the violence of the few.”
The well attended meeting had in attendance party bigwigs, including the Deputy Governor, Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the party’s Acting Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Tolu Odebiyi, former Deputy Governor, Prince Segun Adesegun, former Senator representing Ogun Central, Prince Lanre Tejuoso among others.
It was obvious that Abiodun was not pleased with what the past administration handed over to him when he said, “I cannot describe the Ogun State we met”.
But Abiodun confessed, “I have vowed not to discuss anything about the past administration. We are here to draw line, we are here to make improvement”.
The Governor who expressed deep affection for the State and the people stressed that he would not renege his promise to provide good governance and enabling environment to encourage private partnership.
Hear him; “We will provide focus and qualitative Government while creating enabling for socioeconomic development. We believe if the growth of the state increases, individuals in the state will increase.
“If we are not providing good governance we cannot encourage private sector’s partnershi. We will ensure that pension contribution deducted are refunde. You cannot deduct workers pension and not pay back. We will ensure that local governments begin to carry out their function.
“I will turn Ogun State into Economic capital of Nigeria,” he added.
