IBADAN – This year’s celebration of the Global Africa History Month (GAHM), with the theme: “BLACK RESISTANCE: ON SUSTAINABLE ARTS AND CULTURE WE DWELL” kicked off on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, with a lecture delivered by Dr. Tunde Adegbola, at the National Museum of Unity, Aleshinloye Market, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Initiated in 1929 in the United States of America (USA), by an African-American of note, Dr Carter Woodson, GAHM is celebrated in Nigeria, USA, Canada and other countries in February, while it holds in England and Ireland in October.
The week-long celebration continues on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the same venue, the National Museum of Unity Aleshinloye Market, Ibadan, under the chairmanship of Senior Chief ‘Lekan Alabi, the Maye Olubadan of Ibadanland and the first Culture Ambassador of the National Museum and Monument, Ile Ife.
The National Museum of Unity, Ibadan and the Tunde Odunlade Arts and Culture Connexions are the sponsors of the 2023 GAHM programme.
