The founder of Globacom, Dr. Michael Adenuga has commended the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona for using the annual Ojude Oba Festival to address issues germane to the development of Ijebuland.
Adenuga who spoke on Monday July 29, 2019 through the Regional Activation Manager of Globacom, Mr. Olufolahan Feseyitan at a press conference, organised to herald this year’s Ojude Oba Festival, described the festival as a gift of the Ijebu nation to Nigeria and the world.
The festival which is a spectacular celebration of the Ijebu people in Southwest Nigeria to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Ijebu people, has been in existence for about two centuries.
This year’s festival comes with the theme”Ojude Oba: The Uniqueness Of The Ijebu Nation”.
Adenuga said, “The annual Ojude Oba Festival is a rallying point for all Ijebu to pay homage to the Awujale and collectively share thoughts on how to take Ijebuland to the next level of social and infrastructural development.”
The telecommunications giant, an indigene of Ijebuland also commended the monarch’s giants strides recorded in Ijebuland since the Oba ascended the throne of his forefathers 59 years ago.
His words; “We note that Alaiyeluwa has been using his clout to bring high networth personalities to grace the festival as Special Guests thereby raising the profile of the festival and the status of Ijebuland. We know that this year will not be different too.”
The side attractions for this year’s festival is the beauty pageant tagged, “Miss Ojude Oba Festival Beauty Pageant” and a musical concert where fuji icon, Abass Obesere and multi-talented musician, Keshinro Ololade popularly known as Lill’Kesh will entertain guests.
In this year’s festival, Globacom will be empowering 20 lucky winners of raffle draw with 10 tricycles and ten plasma television sets during the festival.
The Special Guest of honour is a business mogul and philanthropist, Chief Kensington Adebutu.
The age-long festival will also have in attendance, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, among other important dignitaries.
