Chief (Mrs.) Omolara Adenike Akintade JP, being sworn-in as the new Ogun State Governor of TRAWIN.

ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Ogun State Chapter of the Traditional Wedding Initiatives (TRAWIN) has inaugurated Chief (Mrs.) Omolara Adenike Akintade (JP), the Iya Eto of Ilaro-Yewa, as its third Governor on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at ONTEC Hall, Abeokuta, witnessed an outpouring of goodwill from dignitaries, including the association’s National Executive, Matrons, Patrons, Advisers and members from across the Southwest.

Chief (Mrs.) Akintade’s election, secured through a transparent voting process, was as a result of recognition of her reliability, responsibility, and contributions to the association.

In her acceptance speech, Chief (Mrs.) Akintade pledged to uphold TRAWIN)‘s commitment to fairness, justice, and cultural preservation in her acceptance speech.

TRAWIN) remains committed to promoting fairness, justice, and honesty, ensuring that its leadership reflects zonal balance and professionalism,” she said, adding that the association is pivotal in safeguarding Nigeria’s cultural heritage, particularly in traditional marriage ceremonies.

Since its establishment in 2008, TRAWIN) has enjoyed the support of traditional rulers, government bodies, and philanthropists. Chief (Mrs.) Akintade expressed gratitude for this backing, highlighting the invaluable role of traditional rulers in Ogun State.

She extended special thanks to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), representing Ogun West in the National Assembly, for his continued generosity to the association.

Senator Adeola’s donation of an 18-seater bus to the association was met with widespread appreciation.

“This gesture is a groundbreaking act in Yewaland and Ogun State as a whole since the association’s creation”, Chief (Mrs.) Akintade remarked.

She lauded Yayi as he’s fondly called, as a distinguished philanthropist and offered prayers for his continued success and future aspirations.

At the event, Ambassador Flourish Ayọmikun O. from Ijebu-Ode shared her goodwill message, stating: “I am thrilled to congratulate you on your inauguration as the new Governor of our esteemed association, Traditional Wedding Initiatives (TRAWIN).

“This is a significant milestone, and I am deeply honoured to see you take on this leadership role within our community.

“Your dedication, expertise, and passion for the Alaga industry make you the perfect choice for this position. I am excited to witness the positive changes you will bring and the progress we will achieve together.

“Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on this well-deserved appointment. I look forward to collaborating with you closely and offering my full support every step of the way.

It will be recalled that the association has had two previous Governors; they include Chief (Mrs.) S. A. Omisande (Ijebu Zone, 2008–2016) and Chief (Deaconess) Adesola Odusole (Abeokuta Zone, 2016–2024) while Chief (Mrs.) Akintade, representing Yewaland.

Her leadership underscores the association’s commitment to ensuring balanced zonal representation.

Chief (Mrs.) Akintade called on members of TRAWIN) to unite and work towards achieving greater heights, ensuring that the association continues to play a vital role in cultural preservation and professional excellence.

Her tenure promises to bring renewed focus and dynamic leadership to the association.
