FG, DONOR AGENCIES SHOULD SUPPORT NEW OGUN ALTERNATE BOARD – CHIEF ELEBUIBON

ABEOKUTA – An appeal had gone to the Federal Government, World Health Organizations and other relevance donour health agencies to support Ogun State Government, on the newly created Alternate Medicine Board, to achieve its purpose of establishment.

According to a release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l & online – www.startrendinternational.com by Dolapo Jinad, Press Officer, Alternate Medicine Board, this appeal was made by a popular Yoruba actor, Chief Yemi Elebuibon while delivering a lecture tagged: “The Effect of Alternate Medicine and Practice in Combating Present World Health Problems”, at a stakeholders’ meeting of Alternate Medicine Practitioners in Ogun State, held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta,.saying the idea of having the Board was commendable.

Chuef Elebuibon emphasized the need to mobilize resources for the State, adding that it would go a along way in solving 75 percent of the country’s health challenges internally, thereby saving Federal Government cost of importation of drugs.

His words, “Let me congratulates the people of Ogun State and government of the day for taking this bolder steps to join the rest of the world in search for Alternate Medicine in solving citizens health problems since COVID-19 had taught the world a lesson. It is necessary for us to look inward and make use of what we are endowed with for the treatment of any diseases or ailment, in accordance with our custorms and traditions.

It is time for us all to come back home and embrace our own things, especially our reach culture that many of the country of the world are looking up to.

Declaring the meeting open, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said that necessary arrangement for the development and operatioalisation of Alternate Medicine practice in Ogun State had been put in place, including laboratory facilities and research centers.

The Governor charged the Board to work in accordance with the rules and regulations guiding its establishment, saying the government would not condone any act of illegality and abuse.

In her welcome address the State Commissioner for Health Dr. Tomi Coker, who was represented at the event by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Tayo Lawal, appreciated the guest Speaker for the gesture, and called on the practitioners to create rooms for cross fertilization of ideas with orthodox counterpart for a result-oriented efforts.

In his address, the Chairman Alternate Medicine Board, Ogun State, Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye, commended the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the appointment!, assuring that the Board would strive to achieve the purpose of its establishment.

Contributing, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Ayinde said the Ministry would give assistance for the successful take off of its activities, in the area of training and retraining of the practitioners, among others.
